New Product: I-2533CS-A/B, A CAN to One-wire Single-mode Fiber Bridge
- The I-2533CS-A/B is a type of CAN-to-Fiber Bridge that can be used to establish a connection between two CAN networks. It supports Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology so that only a single fiber cable is needed for transmitting bi-directional CAN data. As the I-2533CS-A and I-2533CS-B must be paired because of hardware limitations, this means that the cost of deploying fiber cable can be effectively reduced.
Compared with other CAN/Fiber converters, the I-2533CS-A/B has three significant features. First, the I-2533CS-A/B can be used to overcome the transmission distance limitations of the CAN Bus. Consequently, the transmission distance can be extended to up to 15 km using fiber cable, regardless of the CAN baud rates used in the system. - Second, noise and error signals between two CAN networks can be effectively isolated, meaning that any disturbance or interference on the CAN Bus side of the I-2533CS-A/B will not affect the operations of the fiber side.
- Finally, the I-2533CS-A/B includes a rotary switch that can be used to configure the CAN baud rates, which means that two systems that use different CAN baud rates can still communicate with each other. In order to reduce the bus loading for systems that use low-speed baud rates, CAN message filters can be set on the I-2533CS-A/B that allow any CAN messages which are extraneous to the system to be dropped.
- In addition to the hardware configuration method, a software configuration utility for the I-2533CS-A/B is also provided. This utility allows users to read the firmware version and the status of the rotary and DIP switches, as well as configure the CAN baud rate, the CAN sample point, and the CAN message filters, offering greater flexibility and functionality for CAN Bus applications.

The I-2533CS-A and I-2533CS-B are a couple and must be used in pairs in CAN Bus applications.

The propagation delay depends on the CAN Bus baud rate and the CAN message format.
