The iPAC-8000 is a family of compact, modular, intelligent and rugged, distributed PAC
(Programmable Automation Controller), designed for data acquisition and control in manufacturing, research and
education. This new exciting series offers a flexible, versatile, and economical solution to a wide range of
applications. From Data-Acquisition, process control, test and measurement, to energy and building management.
CThe iPAC-8000 is a modular network -based PAC with the capability of connecting I/O either through it¡¦s own
dual backplane bus or alternatively through remote I/O units and remote I/O modules. The unit comprises a main
control unit with a range of standard communication interfaces, and a dual backplane bus permitting I/O expansion.
The dual backplane bus is hybrid in nature providing the facility to connect either serial (I-87K I/O) or parallel I/O
modules (I-8000 I/O). The parallel bus is used for high speed data transfer application. There are various of I/O
modules including Digital Input/ Output , Analog Input/ Output, Counter/ Frequency and Motion I/O modules.
TThe iPAC-8000 can be used as an intelligent distributed data acquisition front end connected to a Host machine
running a standard SCADA package, or alternatively. It can be user programmed as an autonomous controller
running an embedded software application. Significant non-volatile memory is available for data and program
storage. |

Support for Virtual COM technology |
|
|
Using the VxComm technology, PC can create virtual COM ports to map the RS-232, RS-485 of the iPAC-8441/8841. The software running on the PC can operate the virtual COM ports like a standard COM port to access the serial devices connect to the iPAC-8441/8841. That is to say, the original software developed for the serial devices can access the serial devices via the Ethernet/Internet without any modification.
Each PC can control up to 256 COM ports (including real COM ports). Using the multi serial port I/O module (I-8142,I-8144,I-8112,I-8114) , each iPAC-8441/8841 can have extra 16 COM ports. |

Remote Configuration/Maintenance

iPAC-8441/8841 can be operated via the Ethernet (TCP/IP or UDP) or RS-232, to allow tasks such as downloading programs, configuration, updating the MiniOS7, etc.

Built-in watchdog timer (WDT) |
|
|
iPAC-8441/8841 include an internal watchdog timer (WDT). The watchdog timer will trigger a system reset if the main program fails or neglects to regularly service the watchdog. The intention is to bring the system back from the hung state into normal operation.

|
|
|
Dual I/O Bus Interface

The iPAC-8441/8841 support both I-8000 and I-87K I/O modules. ICPDAS provides all function libraries and demo programs which can help developing customer's application. |
