RPAC-2658M – Redundant PAC

New Products 2021-09-27

The RPAC-2658M is the new generation Linux based Win-GRAF PAC (Programmable Automation Controller) from ICP DAS. This PAC is equipped with a Quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU (1 GHz) and running a Linux operating system. Using the built-in microSD, the RPAC-2658M can save application programs, files, and data.

The benefits of running Linux on a Win-GRAF PAC device include real-time capability, achievable deterministic control, and allowing PAC can have a PC-like operating environment. The PAC is capable of running Win-GRAF (IEC 61131-3 Standard) software to develop logic control applications and also supporting C to develop data management applications that can exchange data with Win-GRAF applications. So the application's design is more convenient and more practical.

Features:

  • Linux Kernel 4.1.15
  • Embedded Win-GRAF SoftLogic (IEC 61131-3)
  • Support Dual PAC Redundant System
  • Real-Time Capability => Built-in Xenomai real-time core architecture
  • Cortex-A9 CPU, 1.0 GHz, quad-core
  • Various Memory and Storage
    • 1 GB DDR3 SDRAM and 8 GB eMMC Flash
    • 64 KB FRAM and 128 KB MRAM Memory for Data Retention
    • 1 x microSD Socket with One microSD Card
  • Various Communication Interfaces
    • 3 x 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet Ports
    • 4 x Serial Ports (RS-232/485/422)
    • 2 x USB 2.0 (host)
  • 64-bit Hardware Serial Number for Software Protection
The 64-bit hardware serial number is unique and individual. Every serial number of iDCS-2658M is different. Users can add a checking mechanism to their AP to prevent software from pirating.
  • Metal Enclosure
It uses a durable metal shell, has better impact resistance and flame retardancy, and provides higher antistatic (EMS) or other electromagnetic noise protection.

Features of the Win-GRAF redundancy

1. Higher safety:
The redundant system conducts communication through LAN1, LAN2, and COM3(RS-422). When the Active-PAC detects hardware, software or communication exceptions, the switching mechanism will be triggered which means the other PAC will take control of the system.

2. Unique Public IP:
Win-GRAF redundant system provides a unique public IP address for SCADA/HMI to access it without needing to determine which one is the Active IP address.

3. Easy maintenance:
If the redundant system is malfunctioning, the operator can power off and remove the broken one and replace a spare one without re-installing all files. The normal PAC will automatically send the Win-GRAF project and data to the new PAC.

4. Simplifying the programming process:
Users do not need to specify what files or data should be sent to spare PAC because the Win-GRAF redundant system will automatically handle these tasks.

5. Custom security mechanism:
Users can design a security mechanism in the program, for example, if Active-PAC is failed to connect to SCADA because LAN1 or RS-485 is disconnected or damaged, it will automatically reboot which means release its control authority to the other PAC.

6. I/O Redundancy:
Besides PAC Redundancy, users can choose the iDCS-8000 system to achieve I/O redundancy.
