PCI Express, 8-Port RS-422/485 Communication Board

Introduction:
The PCIe-S148 communication card provides 8 RS-422/485 serial ports. Each port is equipped with a 256-byte hardware FIFO, and offers speed up to 921600 bps. The PCIe-S148 card supports driver for choosing COM port numbers automatically.

The serial communication card is designed for use with intelligent devices like bar code reader, serial printers, intelligent sensors, instrumentation equipment, computers and almost any device with an RS-422/485 port.

Hardware FIFO up to 256 bytes
FIFO stands for "First In, First Out", an abstraction in ways of organizing and manipulating data relative to time and prioritization. FIFO is used for buffering and flow control while data come from hardware to software. When using hardware FIFO (buffer), a little delay on software or operating system will not lost data at all.

PCIe-S148 card is equipped with 256-byte hardware FIFO for each port. Large hardware FIFO is useful to prevent data lost when your system works on heavy loading, e.g. while running on a multi-task operating system, such as Windows, Linux… etc.
