ZigBee converter- free as a
bee! |
|
|
|
|
|

|
ZigBee is the perfect wireless solution for
industrial
control, medical purposes, alarm systems, building automation, and so
many others. You just name it!
ICP
DAS releases the ZigBee converters in this summer; one is a master
“ZB-2570”, and the other is a slave
“ZB-2571”.
These two converters are fully compliant with the IEEE 802.15.4
standard for wireless personal area networks (WPANs). With the nature
of ZigBee, you can easily set up a network like star, cluster tree or
mesh by ZB-2570 & ZB-2571. And any network allows up to 254
nodes
existed at the same time.
By ZB-2570 & ZB-2571, you can quickly get your Ethernet /
RS-485 /
RS-232 devices into the wireless world. The maximum transmission range
is about 100 meters.
Now we are going to find out how ZB-2570 and ZB-2571 work in a real
world. The following is the live demo at this year's COMPUTEX show! |
 |
At first in the figure. 2, a small yellow device
is a
vibration wire sensor ( *1 ) which measures frequency, temperature as
well as resistance. Afterwards, the collected data are sent to a module
( *2 ) which lies exactly in a remote I/O expansion unit. Then the
remote I/O expansion unit transmits data to ZB-2571 ( *3 ) by RS-485.
When ZB-2571 gets the data from RS-485 side, it also transmits them out
wirelessly. At the same time in the figure. 3, ZB-2570 ( *4 )
automatically and simultaneously receives data from ZB-2571. By an
Ethernet line, the data finally reach the destination and are shown on
the μPAC ( *5 ). The whole progress just happens within
a
blink! The μPACʼs display shows the frequency from the VW sensor
at
that moment.
Using ZB-2570 & ZB-2571 would be a nice shot if you are now looking for the wireless solution for your projects.
ˇąZB-2570 & ZB-2571 will be available in late July.

GW-7552
makes PROFIBUS & Modbus a unity. |
|
|
|
|
|
GW-7552 markes PROFIBUS
& Modbus a unity. |
GW-7552 is a brand new PROFIBUS/Modbus gateway
designed by ICP DAS.
GW-7552 follows PROFIBUS DP protocol, and allows the PROFIBUS master to
access the Modbus devices; in other words, you can right away enjoy the
edge of PROFIBUS with your Modbus devices simply by using GW-7552 as
the bridge!
In addition, ICP DAS also provides the utility for users to configure
the GW-7552. The utility has several features, such as providing
GW-7552 with safe value setting, displaying modules
parameters
and showing module address configuration.
Next, we are going to discover how GW-7552 works in a PROFIBUS/ Modbus system. Please refer to the figure.1.
This live demo was shown at 2008 COMPUTEX. And GW-7552 ( *2 )
successfully assists PROFIBUS devices and Modbus devices working
together.
In the demo, we used the thermocouple for temperature sensing, and data
were gathered by a Modbus module “M-7033D” ( *1 )
designed
by ICP DAS, and then by GW-7552, data successfully reached the PROFIBUS
PLC ( *3 ) . Finally, the printer ( *4 ) printed out the temperature
which is just the same as M-7033D showing on its display
“30.54
˘J”.
