GW-7472 (EtherNet/IP adapter to Modbus RTU master and Modbus TCP client gateway) v2.0 firmware and software releaseGModbus TCP protocol and new functions supported.

Introduction:
The GW-7472 (EtherNet/IP adapter to Modbus RTU Master Gateway) is helpful for data-exchanging between the Modbus RTU network and the EtherNet/IP network. It reads the register data from the Modbus RTU slaves and publishes these data to the input register of the EtherNet/IP scanner.

Modbus TCP is a powerful protocol and widely used. Considering to improve the convenience and the functionality of the product, ICP DAS releases the v2.0 firmware and software to support Modbus TCP and several new functions to perfect the GW-7472.

ICP DAS provides GW-7472 v2.0 firmware and software with free upgrade. The content of v2.0 upgrade is below:

V2.0 Upgrade:
  • Support Modbus TCP protocol.
As a Modbus TCP client, the GW-7472 can connect with 10 Modbus TCP servers at the same time, and exchange data with EtherNet/IP device. Meanwhile, Modbus RTU function can operate well.
User can setup the Modbus TCP request command in GW-7472 Utility. Each Modbus TCP connection can support 8 commands. User can also check the connection status of Modbus TCP servers in GW-7472 Utility.
  • Support Byte Swap
AO/AI messages on Modbus are based on word which will be separated into two bytes on EtherNet/IP scanner. Users can make their own decision on selecting little endian or big endian when a word mapping to two bytes.
  • Support parameter update in Run mode
In GW-7472 v1.0, users update the setting of the module only when it is in Init mode. For convenience, users can now update the module setting whenever they want even when the module is in Run mode. The GW-7472 will reboot automatically after updating.
  • Support loading and saving configuration files
Users can not only output the parameter setting by saving it into text file but also load a setting file to regain previous setting. Users can manage setting of different purpose very easily.
  • Operate with Allen-BradleyTM PLC.
We have confirmed that GW-7472 can operate with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Logix 5563 through 1756-ENBT ControlLogix EtherNet/IP Module setup by RSLogix 5000 software.
