Introduction

The GW-2439M is a powerful network gateway that supports three communication roles: BACnet/IP Client, Modbus TCP Server, and Modbus RTU Slave. It acts as a bridge between BACnet and Modbus systems, allowing a host system to read and write data from remote BACnet/IP Servers via either a Modbus TCP Client or Modbus RTU Master. The GW-2439M can communicate with multiple BACnet/IP Servers in real-time, enabling data integration and centralized monitoring. In addition to standard BACnet/IP Client communication, the GW-2439M supports receiving BACnet/IP messages forwarded across different IP subnets by a BBMD. When a BACnet/IP system consists of multiple IP subnets and uses a BBMD to forward BACnet messages between them, the GW-2439M can properly receive and identify the forwarded messages and their source devices.

This feature enhances the GW-2439M’s device discovery and integration capabilities in multi-subnet BACnet/IP environments, making it well suited for BACnet/IP systems with complex network architectures, such as large buildings, multi-floor or multi-building facilities, industrial sites, campuses, and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS).The GW-2439M supports reading multiple BACnet objects from a single device in one batch operation. This reduces the number of individual read requests and improves overall communication and data acquisition efficiency, especially when handling devices with a large number of BACnet objects.

The GW-2439M supports up to 9,000 BACnet object mappings and complies with various BACnet Interoperability Building Blocks (BIBBs).

In addition, with the dedicated configuration utility, users can easily:

  • Automatically scan for BACnet Servers and their objects
  • Configure object mapping parameters
  • Automatically generate Modbus mapping tables
  • Import/export configuration files to improve deployment efficiency

These features make the GW-2439M an ideal BACnet-to-Modbus gateway solution for smart buildings, automation systems, and BEMS/SCADA integration applications.

Applications

  • Building Automation
  • Heating, Ventilating, and Air-conditioning Control
  • Lighting Control
  • Access Control
