Introduction

The GW-2439M is a powerful network gateway that supports three communication roles: BACnet/IP Client, Modbus TCP Server, and Modbus RTU Slave. It acts as a bridge between BACnet and Modbus systems, allowing a host system to read and write data from remote BACnet/IP Servers via either a Modbus TCP Client or Modbus RTU Master. The GW-2439M can communicate with multiple BACnet/IP Servers in real-time, enabling data integration and centralized monitoring.

As a BACnet/IP Client, the GW-2439M actively initiates communication requests to access various types of objects from BACnet Servers, including:
  • Analog objects: AI (Analog Input), AO (Analog Output), AV (Analog Value)
  • Binary objects: BI (Binary Input), BO (Binary Output), BV (Binary Value)
  • Multi-state objects: MSI (Multi-state Input), MSO (Multi-state Output), MSV (Multi-state Value)

The present_value of all these BACnet objects can be mapped and converted into Modbus registers, allowing Modbus-based host systems to access BACnet data through standard Modbus communication protocols. This significantly enhances flexibility and efficiency in system integration.

The GW-2439M supports up to 9,000 BACnet object mappings and complies with various BACnet Interoperability Building Blocks (BIBBs), including:
  • DS-RP-A: Read Property
  • DS-RPM-A: Read Property Multiple
  • DS-WP-A: Write Property
  • DS-WPM-A: Write Property Multiple
  • DM-DDB-A: Dynamic Device Binding
  • DM-DOB-A: Device Object Binding
  • DM-DCC-A: Device Communication Control
  • DM-RD-A: Reinitialize Device
In addition, with the dedicated configuration utility, users can easily:
  1. Automatically scan for BACnet Servers and their objects
  2. Configure object mapping parameters
  3. Automatically generate Modbus mapping tables
  4. Import/export configuration files to improve deployment efficiency
These features make the GW-2439M an ideal BACnet-to-Modbus gateway solution for smart buildings, automation systems, and BEMS/SCADA integration applications.

Applications

  • Building Automation
  • Heating, Ventilating, and Air-conditioning Control
  • Lighting Control
  • Access Control
