Introduction

DeviceNet is a low-cost standard industrial network communication system based on the CAN bus protocol. It is primarily used in embedded networks for machine control, such as factory machine control, aircraft engine monitoring, factory automation, medical equipment control, remote data acquisition, environmental monitoring, or packaging machine control. In diverse application systems, it provides communication services between devices, ranging from basic sensors and actuators to more advanced controllers. DeviceNet allows direct peer-to-peer data exchange between nodes in an organized and necessary manner, defining schemes that facilitate communication links for all applications. 

CAN-2084D is a DeviceNet slave module that complies with the Volume I/II Release 2.0 DeviceNet specification. Through the standard DeviceNet protocol, users can configure the CAN-2084D or access the status of its analog input channels. The module itself also provides a standard EDS file. Therefore, users can easily interface with a DeviceNet master station using this file. The CAN-2084D provides 4/8 counter/frequency channels and supports five input modes: “Up Counter”, “Frequency”, “Up/Down Counter”, “Dir/Pulse Counter”, and “A/B Phase Counter.” The CAN-2084D can be used for various measurement applications, such as total count measurement, position control, and speed control. In addition, the CAN-2084D also features a digital low-pass filter to eliminate high-frequency noise.
