Introduction:
PCIe-S112/S112i communication card provides 2 RS-232 serial ports. Each port is equipped with a 256-byte hardware FIFO, and offers speed up to 921600 bps. The PCIe-S112/S112i card supports the function that drivers will be assigned available COM port numbers automatically.The serial communication card is designed for use with intelligent devices like bar code reader, serial printers, intelligent sensors, instrumentation equipment, computers and most devices that is equipped with an RS-232 port.
Hardware FIFO up to 256 bytes
FIFO stands for "First In, First Out", an abstraction in ways of organizing and manipulating data relative to time and prioritization. FIFO is used for buffering and flow control when the data is transmitted from hardware to software. By using hardware FIFO (buffer), a little delay on software or operating system will not result in data lost.
PCIe-S112/S112i card are equipped with 256-byte hardware FIFO for each port. Large hardware FIFO is useful to prevent data lost when your system works on heavy loading, e.g. while running on a multi-task operating system, such as Windows, Linux… etc.
