Introduction

XP-8X31-WES7 Series is a new generation Windows Embedded Standard based PACs developed by ICP DAS. It is equipped with a x86 CPU (1 GHz, dual-core), various connectivity (VGA, USB, Ethernet, RS-232/485) and 1/3/7 I/O slot(s) for high performance parallel I/O modules (high profile I-8K Series) and serial I/O modules (high profile I-87K series). The operating system is pre-installed in the built-in mSATA SSD, and the storage can be expanded via a Compact Flash slot. XPAC is capable of running PC-based control software such as Visual Basic .NET, Visual C#,…. etc. It has all of the best features of both traditional PLCs and Windows capable PCs.

 

Local I/O and Communication Expansion Modules

There are 1, 3, 7 slot options provided to expand the local I/O. And the I/O modules can be parallel bus type (I-8K series) or serial bus type (I-87K series).
The I/O slots support parallel bus type (I-8K series) and serial bus type (I-87K series) I/O modules. These modules provides wide-range options for different I/O combination to implement all kinds of I/O functions such as: AI, AO, DI, AO, counter input, frequency input, PWM output, motion control, memory, communication, etc.

Compared with the XP-8x41-Atom, the hardware size and the positions and numbers of the peripheral communication interface of the XP-8x31-WES7 are completely compatible with the XP-8x41-Atom, and the hardware can be directly upgraded. Hardware specifications include faster CPU, Gigabit Ethernet and larger RAM memory; the overall system performance is greatly improved than the previous generation.
