Introduction:

Modbus is one of the popular protocols in industry. Therefore, there are many communicating translation applications for both Modbus master and Modbus slave. Previously ICP DAS CAN converter series products only have Modbus slave to CAN devices solution such as I-7530A-MR and I-7540D-MTCP.Now in order to provide customers with more comprehensive functions to implement Modbus applications; we add Modbus master to the I-7530A-MR. I-7530A-MR allows the exchange of information between Modbus master and CAN via sending Modbus commands. It helps to access Modbus slave devices automatically and continuously. When it gets I/O data from Modbus slave devices, it will store them in the data field of the CAN message and actively or passively transmit the data to CAN bus. This new function also provides error response mechanism. It helps to detect Modbus Error via CAN bus.

Communication Methods:

In order to implement the Modbus master function, we use two memory spaces for exchange of I/O data between Modbus and CAN side. Both of them are 2048 bytes.


 

Applications:

Users can easily get status from remote Modbus devices and control them via CAN bus by using Modbus master function.
