v2.3.2 Firmware Released for WISE-580x : Active I/O Function Supported

WISE-580x is an Intelligent PAC Controller designed by ICP DAS; it features web-based operation, logic control editing and data logger in one single platform. WISE-580x is easy-to-use and no programming required. The users no longer need to do programming and no extra software tool installation required; just open a web browser and it takes only a few clicks on the WISE web page to implement control logic. In addition to the original v2.2 firmware functions; the new released WISE-580x v2.3.2 Firmware contains more helpful functions and is more flexible for user to implement the SCADA system. The new enhanced firmware is provided with the following features:

Active I/O Data Transmission
In the traditional industrial control application cases, usually it requires to perform Polling mechanism to achieve the data transmission between the SCADA software in control center and the controllers in field-side. That is, the SCADA software has to send request command to each controller in field side one by one to retrieve the I/O channels data of all controllers. During the whole process, the controller always acts in a passive way; the SCADA software has to send a request first and then wait for the controller to response to the request. If the Polling mechanism is adopted in a small-scale application; that is: when the controller number is less, the data update frequency between SCADA software and the controllers might be able to be within a few to tens of seconds, however, when it comes to a large-scale application, that is, when the controller number is more, the data update frequency between SCADA software and the controllers may need to spend a few minutes to complete all updates. In this case, the control center will not be able to get the real-time I/O channel data of the controllers due to the delay.

Traditional Polling Mechanism
The Active I/O Mechanism of WISE-580x

In addition to the Modbus TCP/RTU Slave function that enables SCADA software (or HMI device) to poll the I/O channels data of the WISE-580x, now WISE-580x v2.3.2 Firmware provides new Active I/O Sending function. Based on the Active I/O Sending function, WISE-580x is no longer only sending the I/O channel data passively to the SCADA software in response to the request command issued by SCADA. Now WISE-580x can send the I/O channel data to SCADA software actively.

There are two parts in the Active I/O Sending function: I/O Data Table Configuration and Active sending of I/O Data Table. For WISE-580x allows to connect with various I-7000 I/O modules and Modbus RTU Slave modules, the I/O channel data of each module that WISE-580x received is located in different Modbus Address memory blocks of the WISE-580x. Therefore, when using SCADA software to retrieve the I/O data, the SCADA software must poll each modules I/O channel data separately. It is impossible to poll all WISE-580x I/O modules channels data at one time. In order to improve the efficiency of the data transmission between WISE-580x and SCADA software, WISE-580x provides I/O Data Table Configuration function. It allows to rearrange the I/O channels data from different modules and puts them into a continuous Modbus Address memory block, and then SCADA software can retrieve all I/O channels data from different modules by using one single Modbus command. Comparing to the traditional polling mechanism, it will greatly save the time and polling attempts. And in addition to the I/O Data Table Configuration function, WISE-580x also provides an extension function Active sending of I/O Data Table. It allows WISE-580x to send the content of I/O Data Table actively to SCADA software by event trigger (I/O channel value changed) or periodic cycle. This function will improve the efficiency of the data transmission between WISE-580x and SCADA software.
NoteGThe SCADA software (or HMI device) must equip the Modbus TCP Slave function to receive the I/O channels data actively sent by WISE-580x.

Support more Modbus RTU Slave Devices
The v2.3.2 Firmware provides a new remote I/O module connection mode for WISE-580x. Besides the original 4 Modbus RTU Modules + 16 I-7000 Modules I/O module connection mode; now v2.3.2 Firmware provides another option 10 Modbus RTU Modules I/O module connection mode. Based on the new I/O module connection mode, WISE-580x is more flexible to connect to Modbus RTU Slave devices and is able to meet various requirements in different industrial automation or SCADA applications.
NoteGWhen user select the 10 Modbus RTU Modules I/O module connection mode, WISE-580x cant connect with any I-7000 module at the same time.

DL-100T485 Module Support
In addition to the functions above; WISE-580x v2.3.2 Firmware now also supports ICP DAS DL-100T485 module. The DL-100T485 is a module designed for temperature and humidity monitoring. The compact size and IP66 Waterproof feature allows it to be perfect for most environment and device monitor applications. For DL-100T485 supports ICP DAS DCON protocol, user can connect it with ICP DAS I-7000 remote I/O modules all together with WISE-580x RS-485(COM2) interface. WISE-580x can retrieve the temperature and humidity value from DL-100T485 for data monitoring, data logger or the evaluation of IF-THEN-ELSE logic rule.

Now you are free from being distressed by the annoying program development and debug process. Just a few clicks on the mouse via WISEs Web page, you can complete the controllers logic rule design instantly at your fingertips. WISE features Easy-to-Use Web Interface, provides wide range I/O modules to choose from, incorporates with more useful functions and enables seamlessly integration with SCADA package/HMI devicesKetc, therefore, will be your best choice in Automation Control/Monitoring systems development.
