In the traditional industrial control application cases, usually it requires to perform Polling mechanism to achieve the data transmission between the SCADA software in control center and the controllers in field-side. That is, the SCADA software has to send request command to each controller in field side one by one to retrieve the I/O channels data of all controllers. During the whole process, the controller always acts in a passive way; the SCADA software has to send a request first and then wait for the controller to response to the request. If the Polling mechanism is adopted in a small-scale application; that is: when the controller number is less, the data update frequency between SCADA software and the controllers might be able to be within a few to tens of seconds, however, when it comes to a large-scale application, that is, when the controller number is more, the data update frequency between SCADA software and the controllers may need to spend a few minutes to complete all updates. In this case, the control center will not be able to get the real-time I/O channel data of the controllers due to the delay. |
