DeviceNet, a simple and open network, efficiently reduces both wiring cost and system configuration process. Through DeviceNet standard, users can quickly integrate DeviceNet slaves in different brands with the same DeviceNet network. Now, ICP DAS releases the DeviceNet Master module, I-8124W, to expand one-port DeviceNet master interface on ViewPAC and WinPAC platform. By combining the features of the I-8124W with ViewPAC and WinPAC, they can give a more efficient control method and flexible application architecture. The general application is as the figure below.

The I-8124W has its own CPU and dual-port RAM inside. These characteristics minimize computing loading for the CPU of ViewPAC or WinPAC and high real-time communication in the DeviceNet network. In order to support various development environments, I-8124W provides many demos by embedded Visual C++ 4.0 and C#.NET for users. It is very useful for understanding the operation procedures of the I-8124W and quickly implementing the DeviceNet master in a DeviceNet network. Owing to the arrangement of DeviceNet slaves and gateways of ICP DAS, you can simply set up a flexible DeviceNet control system to communicate with other sensors and actuators in different protocols.

Besides the demos, the free graphical tool, DNM_UtilityCE, help you easily to manage and integrate a DeviceNet network with various DeviceNet slaves. This tool can scan the entire devices of DeviceNet network and save the information into the EEPROM of the I-8124W. After building the connections with these devices, it can get the names and I/O status of them. You can also use this tool to change the I/O status of each device. When planning or developing the DeviceNet application, it is convenient for supervising and control the DeviceNet network.
