Releasing VxComm Driver 2K v2.9

This new version supports Windows NT 4.0, 2000/XP/2003 and Vista32.

1. Compatible to Windows Vista32 (x86)
When running on Vista32, the utility will automatically ask administrator-privilege to access registry. The new virtual COM driver is also compatible to Vista32.

2. Fixes up a potential bug in driver (for Dual-CPU or Multi-CPU PC)
There is a timing issue that may crash the system (leading to blue screen) where runs with Dual CPU or Multi CPU. The problem is fixed in the new driver.

3. Supports "Search Server"
The utility can search the 7188E/PDS on local network (via UDP protocol).
Note: The firmware of 7188E/PDS should be v3.2.30[2/20/2008] or later.

4. Supports "Configure Server (UDP)"
The TCP/IP function of 7188E/PDS may not work when its network settings are not correct. If so, users still can use the ¡§Configure Server (UDP)¡¨ function to correct the network settings of 7188E/PDS on local network instead of using RS-232 for configuration.

5. Supports "Ping Server"
The utility can ping the 7188E/PDS by calling ping.exe that is built-in by Windows. And the 7188E/PDS should have no network setting problems if the 7188E/PDS responses to ping successfully. This function can also be used to test if the IP is already occupied by other devices.

6. Compatible to built-in firewall by Windows XP SP2
The setup program will put VxComm Utility to the exception list of built-in firewall by Windows XP SP2. It enables the ¡§Search Server¡¨ function to work correctly with Windows XP SP2 firewall.

7. Supports "Batch Add Servers"
Users can assign a range of IP addresses for adding a large amount of 7188E/PDS Servers in the utility. The mapping for virtual COM ports can also be created when adding servers. The function supports auto-connection to the 7188E/PDS and gets servers¡¦ name automatically. The ¡§Add Server¡¨ function in former version of utility is replaced by the new ¡§Batch Add Servers¡¨ function in the latest utility.

8. Configuration file is changed to XML format
Settings in the utility can be exported and saved as a configuration file which can be imported to other computers later. The file format of configuration in the new utility is changed to XML. With the XML editor, users can modify the configuration more easily before importing.

The latest version of VxComm Driver/Utility supports Windows NT 4.0, 2000/XP/2003 and Windows Vista32 (x86).
