tM series User's Manual Revision

Product Update 2020-05-13

Description of Revision:
This version of the user manual integrates several tM series manuals into one single manual. In addition to the information about I/O modules, the description of some software (development) tools are added and demo programs are provided accordingly.

Introduction
The tM series is a family of network data acquisition and control modules that are equipped with digital or analog input/output functions. The modules can be remotely controlled through an RS-485 serial bus by using DCON and Modbus RTU protocols.

The tM series supports a variety of I/O types and can be integrated with the HMI, SCADA, PLC and other software systems. Moreover, it provides dual watchdog, i.e., Module Watchdog and Host Watchdog, to enhance the reliability and stability of the control system.

Applications
  • Factory, Building and Home Automation
  • Remote Diagnostics and Management

Software (Development) Tools:
Chapter 3 to 6 describes several software that supports DCON and Modbus protocols and can be used on ICP DAS Windows-based or Linux-based platform. We also provide some demo programs to co-work with tM series modules.

  • DCON Utility Pro  (Chapter 3)
DCON Utility Pro can be used to configure and test I/O modules.
    • It provides configurations pages to set communication parameters, DI/DO/AI/AO and Watchdog functions.
    • It provides the function to quickly copy the I/O settings to a lot of modules to reduce the users' workload for the setting.
    • It provides the function to test and debug the module by using Modbus or DCON protocol commands.

  • eLogger HMI (Chapter 5)
eLogger is a free HMI software that can be used to create Local or Web Server HMI pages. Users can conduct remote PAC control via a Web browser on a PC or smartphone. A variety of I/O applications can be implemented by using Win-GRAF and eLogger.

  • PACSDK (Chapter 6.2)
PACSDK is a software development toolkit that supports DCON protocol and can be used on a PC or PAC.  PACSDK can be used to develop VC/C#/VB.net applications to access I/O data of tM series module.

  • OPC DA Server and UA Series Product (Chapter 6.3)
OPC DA Server can be used to integrate data from I/O equipment and allows the HMI/SCADA/Database software to access data.

UA series is a kind of IIoT Communication Server that can be used to access data of remote I/O modules and PACs via Modbus TCP/ RTU/ASCII, MQTT, and EtherNet/IP communication. And then, converting data to conform to OPC UA or MQTT protocols to fit the application needs of MES, ERP, SCADA, or Cloud service.

  • Linux Modbus Development Tool (Chapter 6.4)
ICP DAS LinPAC family is embedded with flexible and open source Linux system and supports the Python and Perl programming language. LinPAC can be used to control tM modules via DCON or Modbus protocols.

  • Win-GRAF Development Software (Chapter 6.5)
Win-GRAF is a PLC-like SoftLogic development software that supports IEC 61131-3 languages and can be used to develop an industrial monitoring system. The Win-GRAF application running on the Win-GRAF PAC can access data of tM modules.
